Hace muchos años, siendo yo un niño, se coló en el garaje de nuestra casa del pueblo un gorrión precioso. Mis hermanos y yo, todos con másters y tesis doctorales en "Cómo hacer del cojín un arma arrojadiza" y "Batallas Campales con Platos de Cocina", conseguimos atrapar al pobre pajarillo que inocentemente había ido a parar a nuestra casa.

Lo bautizamos Manuel, le dimos nuestros apellidos, le hicimos una pseudocasita con cajas de cartón y al segundo o tercer día apareció inmóvil en el suelo. Tras comprobar que no se estaba echando una siesta, para mostrarle nuestro respeto, decidimos enterrarle, como hacían los mayores con la gente que se moría. En medio del jardín de la parte de atrás de la casa cavamos su diminuta tumba y junto a él plantamos un ciprés, para recordar el sitio donde estaba Manuel. Nos hicimos mayores y el ciprés también. Cuando dejamos la casa, el ciprés ya llegaba al tejado.

Este verano, en un pequeño viaje con mi padre por Asturias, nos dio por ir a ver qué había sido de la casa del pueblo. Lo primero que hice cuando llegamos fue ver si seguía el ciprés allí. No estaba. Y me morí de rabia porque ya nada recordaría a Manuel ni a los niños que lo enterraron, y por lo poco que me gustaba separarme de las cosas y la gente que me recuerdan que un día fui muy pequeño.

De no ser jurado, seguramente hubiese participado en el reto #arrancar con esta foto que hice en Akureyri, un pequeño pueblo del norte de Islandia. Eran casi las 6 de la mañana, nosotros nos levantábamos para seguir con nuestro viaje y ahí estaba la iglesia despertando a los islandeses a campanada limpia, tan roja y con esa cruz iluminada con luz de neón que parecía una macrodiscoteca de Detroit. Así arrancaba el día.

These past few days I attended many Madrid Fashion Week catwalk shows. The show I liked the most was the Angel Schlesser one, my brother Víctor forms part of the team that assist this great designer and I felt really proud of him. When surfing the Internet I use to save the pictures I like and then arrange them into different folders. When I found the Toby Grimditch page I had to save most of them, I think Grimditch is a great fashion stylist.

That said, I want to make something clear.. I'm not the kind of person who has "a favourite fashion stylist", that's not for me, I'm into this just because I like clothes and the funny thing that comes beside them, but I would never ever be a friend of someone who calls himself a "fashionista" or "shopaholic" and dreams of having the Carrie Bradshaw's lifestyle... I'm saying this because in every interview I answer, the questions are intended to be answered as if I were a "fashion freak" or something like that, when actually I'm more or less the opposite, I like fashion, but not in a way many people expect "bloggers" (such a terrible word, are people who watch TV in their free time called Televisioners?) to do. When people comment asking for fashion advice I feel like telling them "please, wear whatever you want, and If whoever says something about how untrendy you're dressed, punch him/her in the face".

El pasado martes 21, la revista GQ organizaba la noche de San Jorge Juan en la calle Jorge Juan en Madrid. Desde Uno de 50 se pusieron en contacto conmigo para invitarme a su tienda y hacer por una noche de "estilista de Uno de 50".

Era la fiesta de la moda masculina así que quienes acudían a la tienda posaban para la fotógrafa con pulseras y colgantes de la colección. Los tres que más morro le echasen, o que más encajasen dentro de las tres categorías seleccionadas (el look más europeo - foto izquierda, el 100% Madrid- foto central y el mejor look urbano- foto derecha), serían los ganadores. I haven't blogged about any photographer for a long time and that's maybe because it seemed to me that everything was invented in the field of fashion photography...However, yesterday I stumbled upon Leon Mark's webpage by accident and I fell in love with all of his work, specially when it comes to shooting menswear fashion, so I decided to share it here.

This is my last week here in Reykjavík and I'm having a Goodbye/Birthday party tonight. I have always been a mess when it comes to bags, I have even used plastic bags to carry my books to uni, so this colourful Lazy Oaf bag also looked perfect and I had to choose it too!
